Enjolras’s eyes widened and he pulled Combeferre into a small alley. “We have to get the bleeding to stop. Tell me how.”

Combeferre bit his lip. “It’s fine.” But the blood was everywhere. “I-I can try to stitch it when we get home.”

Enjolras shook his head. “Let me do something that will help until we get there. Please. I can’t lose you.” He chewed on his lip and ripped a makeshift bandage out of his shirt, wrapping it tightly around the wound. “Will that help?”

Combeferre winced and paled more. “It hurts.”

Enjolras nodded and kissed his forehead. “I know. But it’ll help slow the bleeding, right? Help keep you here?”

He nodded and watched him almost nervously. “Yes. It should help.”

“All right.” Enjolras gently wrapped Combeferre’s arm around his shoulders, leading him back towards their apartment.

Combeferre walked with him quickly, on the verge of tears from the pain from his wound.

Enjolras pulled him inside, closing the door and gently laying Combeferre out on their bed. “Tell me what I need to do. Tell me how I can help you,” he murmured, stroking his hair. “Please, mon amour, I can’t lose you.”

Combeferre clung to his arm and let tears fall down his face. “P-please get me a needle and thread and some morphine and a towel? I’ll need to stitch it.”

Enjolras nodded and kissed his forehead before fetching them, running back to Combeferre’s side. “Now what?” He gently wiped the tears off his face. “I’m right here, you’re going to be okay.”

Combeferre whimpered softly and closed his eyes. The wound was really deep. “Please help me?” He sat up and prepared an area to operate. “Can you get me a tray for a flat table?”

He nodded and grabbed a tray, gently moving it underneath Combeferre’s arm. “Now what?”

Combeferre pulled his shirt off and positioned his arm and supplies to start stitching. “I’m starting.”
